A Contact Characteristic of Roller Bearing with Palm Oil-based Grease Lubrication

Grease lubricants are widely used in rolling contact applications to reduce friction between two surfaces. Improper lubrication may cause high stress and deformation the bearings lead machine failure The purpose of this study is investigate coefficient produced by newly developed palm oil-based grease characteristics lubricated roller bearings. In work, new greases was evaluated experimentally values were compared with conventional mineral performance. test performed using a four-ball tester. finite element model based on bearing geometry simulation carried out evaluate characteristic. experimental result shows that oil formulation A had least friction, followed B, food grade grease. This indicates has potential be applied due low characteristics. Finite analysis maximum von Mises total for frictional higher than frictionless contact. For various lubricant COF, similar obtained at 400.69 MPa 3.4033×10-4 mm deformation. finding small difference COF did not affect also biodegradable performance terms characteristic condition operating normal condition.
